Hi Guys,

I am new to all this, got engaged at the end of January and am at a loss as to where to start with the weding plans!! We initially planned on going to Italy however am interested in hearing peoples view on whether it will actually work out cheaper or not. Bearing in mind we only have a budget of €10k. We are not looking for a big fancy do but I am wondering is it possible to have an Irish wedding on this sort of budget?!?

My hotel does a great wedding package for €40 per person with 4 course meal, complimentary floral centre pieces, red carpet, free 3 month gym membership to help you get in shape for the big day (wedding over 110 persons)

You can save a lot of money by shopping around. One idea is to buy your wedding and bridesmaid dresses on-line it saves so much money. Fashion Express Dresses have just launched a wedding and bridesmaid brochure for 2009 you have to email them and they will email it to you: [email protected], their website is eBay Shop – Fashion Express Dresses:, they also sell debs and evening dresses.

Good luck

I think its definately possible. I’m not too far off that budget myself. I have just been upfront with suppliers saying that i’m only prepared to spend a certain amount and if they can’t give me anything under that I walk away. Most are very willing to negotiate. For wedding dresses I just asked for sample sales and found mine for a bargain! Good luck

I have found that the best way to save money when searching for a wedding gown is resorting to the internet. Unlike brick and mortar retailers, online retailers do not have many overhead costs so they can offer the gowns for cheaper. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when shopping online.
Always have your measurements ready. Size Charts vary among designers, so it is important to have your measurements ready in order to assure you get the correct fit.

Look up their return policy before purchasing. Make sure that if you are not 100% satisfied with the gown or if it does not fit properly you are able to return it. However, be aware that with most wedding gowns alterations will be necessary. Watch out for websites with designers pictures but located in China. They often offer you custom gowns for a lower price but end up looking absolutely nothing like the picture. They don’t accept returns either.
Make sure to establish communication with a representative of the website, communication leads to a better understanding of what you want, leading to the best results possible.

In my research I have found some legitimate website and some that are not so good. One good website to look at is goodorient (dot) com, At last, maybe you can find what you want at GoodOrient, a very popular website about wedding dresses. Not only Simple Wedding, Dresses Junior Bridesmaid Dresses or all kind of wedding dresses, but also Evening Dresses, Party Dresses, will just fit you.
