The Havens 10 top tips for brides part ONE

Louise Tallon, from The Haven Beauty and Holistic Clinic, in Shillelagh gives weddingsireland top tips for beautiful brides.

1 – Always have a trial for makeup and tanning to ensure you are happy with the results.
A trial will let the makeup artist get to know the colours of fabric and flowers and the amount of makeup you would normally wear. If you don’t like something about your makeup, say so at the trial. It’s your day after all, and you are paying for a service so you deserve to get what you want.

2 – Never go for radical changes in your makeup.
It could make you feel more self-conscious on an already stressful day. Makeup styles and colours that are fashionable at the moment may make you cringe when you look back at your wedding photos in years to come so its best to go for a classic, timeless look.

3 – Book facials for at least five days before the wedding to allow for breakouts.
Never try out new treatments or products in the week leading up to the wedding especially if you have sensitive skin, in case of allergic reactions.

4 – Make sure the skin in well prepared for tanning. Exfoliate and use a good moisturizer the day before the treatment concentrating on dry areas like the elbows, knees and ankles. Any hair removal should be performed at least 24 hours prior to application. On the day of the treatment, shower and do not apply any lotions, deodorants or perfumes and wear loose dark clothing and flip flops.

5 – Always wash the guide colour off thoroughly, but avoid scrubbing, as transfer especially under the arms will stain the fabric of the dress. Always follow the salon’s aftercare to maximize the tan and never use wash off instant tan on your wedding day as rain, sweat or tears can cause streaks or stain the fabric.
