How to get married in Fiji

Wedding Facts – The ceremony can still be arranged in a single day!


Documentation required:


1. Original or certified copy of birth certificates


2. Passports (with valid visitors permit)


3. Decree Absolute documents (divorce papers) if relevant


4. Officially witnessed consent of your father if you are under 21 (or mother if father is deceased)


5. Death certificate of deceased former spouse (if relevant)


6. To present yourself together at the Registry Office when applying for the licence which can be obtained within one working day. This must be done in Fiji. Registry offices are in Suva and Lautoka, while District Offices throughout Fiji also facilitate this.


7. Registration offices are open between 9.00am and 3.00pm Monday through Friday. Registration formalities take about 15 minutes.


8. The fee is â‚ ¬10.00 and the license is valid for 21 days.


9. Confirmatory letter on current satus to be obtained from marriage Registry where the applicant resides or statutory declaration signed by a Justice of Peace or Notary Public or Solicitor to prove that he/she has not entered into a marriage before (this declaration applies to first or second marriage).


10. Applicants from Asian Nationals who are named herein: Chinese/Phillipines/Pakistan/India) are to apply one (1) month in advance for their marriage licence

3. The Warwick Fiji


Weddings: Guest can choose the location of the ceremony but highly recommended is a romantic sunset wedding on the beach or on Wicked Walu Island. The service can be performed at a nearby church with Anglican, Methodist or non-demoninational services available. The staff at the Warwick are happy to oblige as witnesses.

4. Toberua Island Resort

A Toberua Wedding will cost â‚ ¬500 including VAT, this covers the Marriage License, Minister or Registrar, flowers (which includes a bouquet for the bride and any of her attendants, flowers for the hair, salusalu for the bride and groom and floral arrangements to decorate the chosen venue) and a traditional wedding cake. We also offer complimentary champagne after the ceremony to toast the couple savories and a tree planting ceremony. The day will conclude with a champagne wedding dinner for two.


5. Turtle Island


Imagine celebrating that special day in an exotic tropical setting; meeting your loved one on a white, sandy beach with a warm breeze stirring the air. On Turtle, weddings are special events, and some of our guests’ fondest memories are of the delightful Fijian wedding ceremonies held at sunset on the shores of the famous Blue Lagoon.

Grand Wedding-


The setting is sunset. The bride arrives in a traditional Fijian wedding gown on a beautifully decorated raft rowed by Fijian warriors. The husband-to-be awaits on a white sand beach while a melodious Fijian choir sings in the background. After the ceremony, the couple and guests enjoy a lavish feast. Each Wedding is a unique, exotic experience.


Private Wedding:


The setting is a private beach at approximately 11.00am the day after the couple arrives. Other guests do not attend. An intimate, memorable event to be forever cherished.

GETTING THERE – FLIGHTS


There are daily flights with Air New Zealand from London to Los Angeles (this is a free stopover in both directions if desired). There are a further three connecting flights weekly from Los Angeles to Nadi, Fiji. So you can time your flights to connect directly or stop off and visit Los Angeles.


London to Los Angeles is 12 hours, Los Angeles to Fiji is a further 11 hours.
