Beautiful Hair – For Your Big Day

Hair

The first thing to do when thinking about your hair is to organise a consultation with your stylist or alternatively with a salon which specialises in wedding hair. Either way, ensure that the chosen salon has enough stylists to cater for your whole bridal party on the morning of d-day.

This may seem obvious but, it is important to pick someone you get on well with, who will listen and not get impatient with your demands or changes of mind. After all, you don’t want to be bullied into a hairstyle, one which they think suits you, but you hate!

Be open to new ideas. Improvise and try new styles at home. Flick through magazines and see if anything catches your eye.

Remember – sometimes less is more. A fussy hairstyle may just look plain messy underneath a veil or headdress plus you don’t want to be fiddling around with clips on the wedding day.

Make sure that the hairstyle you do choose is compatible with any head-props you may decide to wear – flowers, headdresses, tiaras, veils etc Also be sure to bring any props with you on the day of your trial.

Contemplate on the colour of your hair. If you envision yourself as a blonde bombshell on your wedding day and you now would describe yourself as a mousy brunette, about six months before d-day leaves you with a safe timeframe to experiment. Crucial to deciding hair colour is your skin tone. At this point, I would recommend going for a colour consultation. Why not check out our range of colour consultants near you in our directory.

About 2-3 months beforehand, begin a conditioning treatment to ensure your hair is in great condition for the day. Ask your stylist to recommend products that suit your hair.

1 month prior is time for the final cut or trim

1 week prior is time to touch up your colour – provided you have got this colour before

On the day of your wedding allow for at least 2 hours round trip to the hairdressers. A block-booked time for the whole bridal party should be arranged to ensure that everyone is present and correct and everyone’s timing is in sync. Having people around you at this time is also good for calming the nerves!

Leave with your entourage – the first phase of beautification complete!
