Essential Fatty Acids give you Beautiful Skin from Within by Dr Udo Erasmus

A lack of essential fatty acids (EFAs) in our diet is the most important factor in our nutritional program for healthy, radiant skin. Most of us either don’t eat enough good fats (Omega 3 & 6 Essential fatty acids) in our diet or we eat too much of the wrong fats. The result of this is an imbalance of EFAs and the signs are easy to read: dry skin, dandruff, acne, rough scaly skin.

The 3 reasons why we don’t get enough of the Omega 3 fats in our diet:

Firstly, Omega 3 fats are damaged by processing in the manufacture of cooking oils and margarines. Secondly, we further damage cooking oils by frying or deep-frying them, which causes the Omega 3 fats to become further damaged. Thirdly, the ratio between the Omega 3 and 6 fats in most people’s diets is completely out of balance. Most people get plenty of Omega 6, mainly damaged from processing but hardly any Omega 3′s.

Dry skin is very common in this age of “fat phobia”. Most people buy creams and lotions to overcome dry skin that hide the problem but never fix it. Thankfully there is a solution for dry skin and that is to add plenty of healing Omega 3 fats to your diet, which will moisturize your skin from the inside out. Omega 3′s make the skin more supple and silky so flaky, scaly, rough itchy skin can be improved by increasing your intake of Omega 3′s.

Dandruff also responds positively to Omega 3 intake, because dandruff is just dry skin flaking off.

Omega 3′s improve Tanning . Sunburn is associated with skin damage (leathery skin) and skin cancer. Well-oiled skin tans better and burns less. That is why oils are used in ‘tanning’ lotions. The best oils, however, are not used in these lotions because they go rancid quickly but are the Omega 3 fats that we take internally. I have found that when I take enough good oils to keep my skin properly oiled (soft, smooth, and velvety), I can stay in the sun longer than I could before I adopted the good oils into my diet. I also notice that my tan stays longer while using the oil.

Udo’s Choice Ultimate Oil Blend was developed to provide all the good things you need from fats and none of the bad things. It is rich in Omega 3′s, contains healthy Omega 6′s, is organic and pressed at a low temperature to protect the delicate Omega 3′s.

To actively improve your skin all you have to do is take a tablespoon per 50 pounds of body weight per day of Udo’s Choice Oil Blend, mixed in foods, spread out over the course of the day. This supplies the body with Omega 3′s that lubricate and moisturise the skin. Not only does it improve the skin but people find they have more energy, better mood, improved concentration and are less stressed. Omega 3′s also help to lubricate the joints and keep them supple.

A survey of consumers carried out in 2004 showed that 78% of the respondents reported improvements in the condition of their skin when they began to take Udo’s Choice Oil Blend. Some of the respondents raved about the beauty of their skin. The reports showed that bad skin improved and good skin got even better.

Seed oils or Fish Oils – what do I need? I favour cold pressed organic vegetable and seed oils because they are fresh and minimally processed. The ingredients in my oil blend are organically grown to avoid contamination with harmful chemicals; they are cold-pressed in a most gentle process not to harm any of the beneficial fatty acids.

Fish oils today are different to what they were 50 years ago. Over the years, the oceans have become polluted with all sorts of harmful chemicals which enter our bodies with the fish oil supplements, however much they have been “cleaned”. This cleaning process subjects the fish oils to chemicals such as phosphoric acid and bleaching as well as heating them to extremely high temperatures. The Omega 3′s in fish oils are far more sensitive to heat than the Omega 3′s in seeds which is why fish oils supplements become damaged and why I work with seed oils.

More reasons for taking Essential Fats †¦

If you think that the benefits of essential fats stop with Skin Care, then you are in for a surprise. Essential fats have been shown to support Cholesterol Control, help with concentration and learning, to improve mood and to help with weight loss. Women should up their intake, especially if they are having children, because pregnancy and breastfeeding require large amounts of Omega 3′s for the baby. The oils may also be helpful for the symptoms associated with Menopause and PMS, because essential fats are required for proper hormone production.

The bottom line is make sure you get your essential fatty acids from cold pressed organic seed oils. Take the Radiant Skin Challenge – start taking Udo’s Oil today and feel the difference! You can buy Udo’s Oil in Health Food stores and in selected pharmacies.
