Did anyone source their own wine for their meal, is it worth looking into?or has anyone tried this?,
Or is it just easier to go with the hotels wine?
any info would be great!

We were going to supply our own wine but the hotel we are getting married in don't supply corkage. When we were first looking at hotels, our second choice of hotel were charging €12 a bottle for corkage. prob best to check with hotel to see what they charge - they usually are quite expensive cos they want you buying theirs.

Hi there, yes we're also planning on doing this, it's much cheaper. We're buying crates of wine for our reception & seeing as though our wedding is being held on a thursday, we were lucky enough to talk our way out of the corkage costs

I have some friends from argentina who specialise in argentinian wine. It's really nice, and they would definitely offer discounts for bulk buying!www.vendimia.ie

Yeah we are gonna do that to, it's 12 euro corkage fee for wine and 14 for champagne (in and around
, depending where u are having your reception) but their own wine is near 30 euro, so it works out alot cheaper if you got boat across to Callais in France with your car, fill it to the brim with wine, pay around 3-5 euro for a really nice local wine from the region and get a small pre-wedding holiday too!)

We sourced our own wine, worked out brilliantly.
We didn't have the reception at a Hotel - Which suited us far better.
Instead of going to France, we went to Naas to a shop called ''The Wine Buff'' (didn't know whether to name them but they done a great job!!). We had a tasting session, bought a few bottles to try as well. The wines are all from small vineyards so they weren't available anywhere else (created a nice exclusive feel at the reception) We also got a list with characteristics of each wine they had in stock - This helped our cause as we are no experts haha...

But we ordered a fair bit with them and was delivered on schedule...
There was a tick in each box with their service and i'd recommend them to anybody looking to select their own wine for their wedding (or if u just want some nice wine!!!

Hi all this is my first time using this forum so I hope I get it right. I think you are doing the right thing sourcing your own wines it def works out cheaper. We used Through the grapevine which are based just outside Cork. They were brill, we got them to do small 1/4 bottles for each guest with a personalised message on it as a wedding favor. Our guests loved it and it worked out as cheap as putting little boxes of sweets on each table. They were even able to colour co-ordinate the little presentation bags to suit bridesmaids. I also got them to supply the wines and they did a great deal for us much cheaper than we would have paid the hotel. So I think it is a great idea to source your own. HAve to agree with "smarta" we also tried The wine buff & they were great highly recommend them soo helpfull in every way and they have some great deals & ideas etc..
