Me and my fiance are off to Cape Town at the end of August and I was wondering if anybody knew any info on buying a diamond ring there?!

Hi, i HAve relations who live out there for part of the year. They have bought quite a lot of jewellery out there and say once you go to shops on the beaten track that look respectable you are safe & they can be insured for more than they cost when you get home.

I was in Cape Town last year & got engaged out there, class spot you'll have a ball I can't wait to go again. No shortage for places to buy your rings but be careful do some research about diamonds don’t go out knowing nothing it help to know a little. We got my ring in Charles Greg which is in the waterfront mall, (think that’s malls name killed a few brain cells since then?) CapeTown they well know jewellers and were great to deal with gave great advice picking. They resized my ring while I was over there but think because of heat I had to get it resized over here again. The dude I took the ring to here said that the diamonds were good quality & cut really well said he gets alot of girls buying ring abroad and when they come back here to get resized/cleaned get a shock to find out its not what they thought they bought.

I would advise you to buy in jewellers & not one of them diamond warehouses as you want it to be a nice experience it not every day you get engaged.
